My growing collection of Essence Eye Sorbets...

My growing collection of Essence Eye Sorbets…

I’ve raved and ranted on numerous times before that I absolutely love Essence’s Eye Sorbets.

Apart from my unhealthy obsession with MAC lipsticks, I’m developing an equally unhealthy obsession and lust for Essence Eye Sorbets. I finished up my first one in the shade Illuminating Hazelnut, and replaced it with a newer shade Illuminating Plum, which just looks silvery and not purple at all really.

The next time I find myself lurking in Clicks or Dis-Chem, which let’s be honest, will probably be sometime this weekend, I am definitely buying another Illuminating Hazelnut one.

These dinky pots are amazing as an all over your lid shimmer/sparkle (on point for the holidays) and it also serves as a great brow bone highlighter.

So next time you see some, grab them!

Looking for new blush?

Well look no further, because once again your girl Carina, and Essence saved the day!

The ombre trend has been huge for literally the past two years already. I’m still seeing ombre everything on my Pinterest homepage, which should give you an indication that this isn’t going anywhere just yet, which explains also why I was drawn to this blush.

I love Essence, because their cosmetics are affordable and some of their products give more expensive, luxury brands a run for their money. I mean their Eye Sorbets?! Just wow! Anyway…

I went to the mall with my parents for lunch. Once again I was browsing in Dis-Chem (you’d swear it’s my second home I’m in there so often!) and I saw these adorable powder blushes. I’ve been using Too Faced Sweethearts blush, but to be honest, the ombre just caught my eye and so did the price (R69,99).

I tried it on for the first time the next morning and I am really happy with it.

It’s highly pigmented, a beautiful just-pinched-pink and it has amazing staying power. The only thing I’m not necessarily terribly fond of is the name of the shade, which is Pinky Flow. There was another blush, which was orange and faded into pink with the name Heat Wave. For some bizarre reason the name just makes me think of periods and menopause. Not going into detail, use your imagination.

Thanks for reading my lovelies!

My current favourite lipsticks

photo 2-1

I’m a complete MAC lipstick junkie. Like seriously, I think I have a problem.

Every single time Mr. S and I celebrate our anniversary or a birthday or anything for that matter I always want a MAC lipstick as a gift. Mr. S who is a manly dude is always like “Seriously? That’s what you want? Don’t you have like a million already?”, but then he always ends up going to the MAC counter anyway and buying me one. Bless his heart. ❤

Anyway, I love a bold lip with a more subtle or sparkly eye and since it’s make up melting season aka summer, I’ve been going for slightly more natural looks. Not that a sparkly eye is at all natural but I’ve been ditching the eyeliner.

Here are my favourite lipsticks thus far:

From left to right:

  • Candy Yum Yum
  • All Fired Up
  • Good Kisser
  • Up the Amp
  • Snapdragon

Can you tell I’ve been feeling more pinkish tones? 😉

Which lipstick is your favourite?

Review: Bioderma Sensibio Eye Contour Gel

Yay for miracle eye gel!

Yay for miracle eye gel!

The beauty world has been going nuts about Bioderma’s make up remover for months now and honestly, the product is worth the hype but nobody’s been saying anything else about the rest of Bioderma’s products. Well, I’m here to break the silence!

Lately I’ve been waking up with swollen and puffy eyes and I have no idea why. I thought it must be sleep deprivation or too much dairy, and I also don’t really eat salt or seasoning on my food and I make a point of it to wash my make up off properly before going to bed so I was desperate to get rid of my swollen eye lids.

I’ve cut down drastically on dairy and tried going to bed earlier to no avail. The puffiness didn’t want to budge.

I was browsing in Dis-Chem about a month ago when I spotted this product at the Bioderma counter. It was an impulse buy but seriously, I’m glad I made it!

This isn’t exactly the cheapest gel (it costs R189,99 if I remember correctly) since the container is tiny, but you only need a pin head’s amount of product so it will last long.

You need to wash your face and then dab it onto the contour area of your eyes (the hard bone where your eye sockets end if that makes any sense). Go to bed and the next morning, voila! The puffiness is 100% gone. It stings ever so slightly for like a second when you apply it, but it’s gone just as soon as it started. It doesn’t smell like anything either.

You can also wear this over make up, but I’ve never tried that.

Honestly, this product is amazing. It really works and does what it says it does and my eyes only swelled up again last night after three weeks of using the product for the first time. I used it again last night and woke up all bright-eyed. (I wouldn’t say bushy-tailed, but hey, you can’t have it all.)

10 out of 10 Bioderma!

OOTD: Holiday office party

office party

The holidays and year end functions are coming up!

Like you ever even need an excuse to wear sequins, now you don’t have a reason not to! Although, be warned, you don’t want to look like a disco ball. Stick to one item of sequins and you’ll be the belle of the ball.

Would you wear the outfit above to your office party?
