Review: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15

If you have extremely pale skin like I do, you know the struggle of finding the perfect foundation for your porcelain complexion.

BB creams, foundations, tinted moisturizers, whatever are all either too yellow, cakey or pastey.

I’m a BB cream girl and I’ve been using Garnier’s for the past three years even though I know it’s too yellow for my skin tone. So imagine my absolute surprise and delight when I went shopping for a birthday gift for my mama with my bestie who by the way swears by Bobbi Brown foundation, and what do you know, I find that the shade Sand 2 is perfect for me!

Even though this foundation is high end (i.e pricey) I think it’s worth making the investment. Besides you only use a teensy amount at a time, am I right? Yes yes, I’m the devil sitting on your shoulder. 😉

The formula is light weight, but you can build the product up if you’d like more coverage for dark circles or imperfections. Another great thing about the product’s consistency is that it’s easy to apply with your fingers, a brush or a sponge.

The finish is just great. If you dust a light layer of powder over, you have a matte finish without looking cakey or you could just leave it without the powder and it stays put all day and you have a slight dewy finish without looking oily.

The packaging is quite simple, but that’s what makes it a bit more posh. I like the fact that my foundation comes in a proper glass bottle (don’t drop it!) with a sturdy black plastic ‘cap’. The lettering and font is the standard signature Bobbi Brown font. Simple elegance.

My sensitive skin hasn’t had a freak out like it’s done numerous times with MAC skin products so all in all, I’m happy except for the price. At R480 a pop, it’s not cheap in the slightest, but ultimately, it’s worth it.

Go on, you know you want to…

Haul: Workout clothing

I’m the first one to tell you that I prefer lying on a couch eating popcorn than sweating it out in the gym, but I’ve been attempting to get myself into better shape by signing up for yoga classes since diabetes and a bit of heart disease runs in my family.

And when you sign up for yoga classes, it obviously means that you have to go shopping and find the appropriate outfit. I went to the mall with my parents and unfortunately just as my mom and I were approaching the counter to pay for the items, the bank phoned and told my mother that someone tried making a payment on her credit card of R 3 800, which is over $300. So to the sneaky bastard skimming credit cards, f*** you.

These are my lovely purchases:

Purple and grey yoga pants – R139,99

Black tank top – R59,99

Purple tee – R59,99

I got everything at Mr. Price Sport.

What exercises do you do?

My current favourite candles

I love burning candles around the house. It gives the place a bit of atmosphere and it smells amazing.

Currently, I’ve been loving the following candles:

Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint

This candle was part of the holiday collection. I have to say, it doesn’t smell like candy canes to me as the label on the jar of the candle would suggest.

It smells more like mint chocolate ice cream to me, which is my favourite so I’m not complaining.

Bath and Body Works Gelato

My cousin gave me this candle as part of my bridesmaid gift and I absolutely love it! It’s sweet but not sickly and the colour of the candle stole my heart.

I also featured it in my January 2015 favourites.

Yankee Candle Loves me, Loves me not

Imagine this, you are standing in an open veld and you see those tiny little white daisy looking veld blommetjies (wild flowers). The breeze is blowing lightly and it’s a pleasant, warm day.

That’s what this candle smells like. Yankee and Co managed to perfectly capture that in a jar. How amazing!

Which candles have you been loving?
