My little blog has reached 300 subscribers.
Thank you so much to each and every one of you for reading, liking and commenting. I see and appreciate all of it!
It’s my birthday next week and to get into the spirit of things, Mr. S, his brother and I went to the Nan Hua Buddhist temple in Bronkhorstspruit.
Why go to a temple to get ready for your 25th birthday you ask? I agree it’s unusual, but I love the temple. It’s absolutely beautiful and it really feels like you’re in another country when you’re there. It’s also incredibly peaceful and quiet. Mr. S and I went exploring the grounds on our third or fourth date many moons ago.
The temple is MASSIVE. You can see it from the highway, but it’s quite far from where I live so if you live in Centurion or Johannesburg, make a day of it because it’s about an hour’s drive without traffic and you go through at least one tollgate.
Also when visiting the temple, be sure to wear comfy shoes that you can take off easily, because you’re not allowed to wear shoes inside the shrines and you also can’t take pictures. Trust me, they get quite upset when you do. I took pictures inside the restaurant where technically you can and the woman had a hissy fit of note. She literally sprinted across the room to scold me.
Here’s what I wore:
Jacket: Jay Jays (R499)
Scarf: Gift from a friend
Earrings: Forever New
Jeggings: Pick n Pay Clothing (R180)
Boots: Edgars (R595)
Foundation: Bobbi Brown
Mascara: Maybelline The Rocket
Blush: Too Faced
Lipstick: MAC’s All Fired Up
Face powder: Estee Lauder
Here are some more pictures of the temple and the surrounding grounds:
Guys, let me not beat around the bush here, I LOVE doughnuts.
I always have and always will. Just too bad they go straight to my butt but sometimes you just have to treat yoself. 😉
So from me to you: Happy National Doughnut Day!!!
And think of me when you eat one!
If you do decide to have one, Tweet me a pic. Doughnuts and sweet treats just photograph so well. 🙂
I can’t even believe how fast this year is going by! My birthday is in two weeks and it’s literally slap bang in the middle of the year and in the dead of the South African winter meaning summer will soon be here again.
But let’s get into the things I’ve been loving for the month of May:
MAC Cleanse Off Oil
I LOVE this product and if you think BioDerma works well, you haven’t tried this cleanse off oil yet. It takes your make up off without any scrubbing. It literally cuts straight through waterproof eyeliner and dark lipstick without even leaving behind stain and best of all, it doesn’t dry out your skin so if you don’t feel like using moisturizer afterwards, you don’t have to. Oh and it smells vaguely of oranges. Yum!
MAC Select Cover-Up (NW20)
I’m in love with this concealer. It covers up my dark circles underneath my eyes without being cakey or creasing.
Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner
This is great for during the day when your skin needs a pick me up. You just spray it on and leave it to soak in. The smell isn’t fantastic but I can live with it.
Dove Go Fresh Fresh Touch shower gel
I have damn dry skin year round so if you have the same problem then consider buying this shower gel. It’s creamy and doesn’t dry out your skin. I love the smell as well. The one I have pictured here is Cucumber and Green Tea scent. The combo sounds weird but it’s very light and fresh.
Labello Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia
I’ve raved about the Raspberry one before and I recently finished up the little tin’s delicious content so I bought a different flavour. This is great for winter and dry, chapped lips that need extra care. It does however leave a bit of a white cast but it disappears as soon as the product absorbs into your lips. Just don’t try eating this, it tastes like hell. Not that I’ve tried… 😉
Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Berry
I’ve mentioned a million times before how much I love these tubes of loveliness. I’ve been wearing my Melted Berry shade a ton since the weather became cooler. It’s such a stunning shade.
China Glaze Nail Laquer in That’s Shore Bright
The name doesn’t disappoint, it sure is very bright but it’s beautiful and lasts long on your nails.
OMI – Cheerleader
I’ve tried to recreate the girls in the music video’s dance moves. I nearly ripped something. Good luck to you if you should try, but rather just don’t.
What have you been loving this month?
So this morning while I was getting ready for work, I realised I’m running very low on my beloved Estee Lauder Country Fresh Powder. It’s a loose powder in a big, clunky container but it works incredibly well and matches my skin tone perfectly.
The problem I’m facing now is I don’t think they make that particular product anymore.
What powder would you suggest I use next? What’s your favourite face powder?
Lately, I’ve gotten a few very strange direct messages from total strangers on Twitter asking me bizarre questions like how I manage to blog in Africa, do I have electricity and running water etc.
So for those of you who think that South Africans live in mud huts, have lions for pets and wear animal skins for clothes, first of all: LOL and secondly we don’t. Some pictures of the stunning city I live in:
I really love Pretoria and there is a distinct possibility that I’ll have to move to Johannesburg for my new job.
Here are some of the reasons why I love Pretoria and don’t really want to leave:
