June favourites

So my birth month has come and gone and that makes me sad. I am also 25. That makes me even sadder. 😉

Also, this post is a bit late and I tried out a different backdrop for the products. I prefer plain white to be honest, but anyway, since it was my birthday this month I got a couple of gifts that I loved and it will be making up some of my favourites.

Guess handbag

Mr. S got me a stunning black Guess bag as part of my birthday gift. I almost feel too sorry for it to use it daily because it’s so gorgeous. And it matches my black heart. 😉

Jay Jays jacket

An early birthday gift from Mr. S. It’s really warm and I’ve been wearing it constantly.

Woolworths ring

Thank you to my friend Natasha for giving me this ring. I love the colours of the gems and I honestly don’t have anything else quite like it.

MAC goodies

My friends know me all too well. I got MAC lipglosses and a lipstick from two of my friends and I really love it. Thanks Jenni and Marelie!!! ❤ I also Instagrammed a picture.

Dior foundation

Again something Mr. S got me. I’ll do a full review on it later.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes in Bluffing

I’ve had this for a while but I couldn’t find a damn eyeliner sharpener that was big enough to sharpen the pencil until recently. I got an Essence one at Dis-Chem and since buying that I’ve been using the eyeshadow pencil every single day. It’s a nice neutral bronzey colour that is perfect for work and even when you’re out about on the town.

Nico & Vinz – Am I wrong?

A lovely song. I particularly like singing along to the “Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah” part. 😉

What are your favourites for this month? Leave links to your favourites posts in the comment section. I’d love to read it.

XO Carina

P.S: I follow back.

November favourites

photo 2-5

I haven’t done a proper one of these in a while, mainly because I’ve been using the same make up items and I didn’t want a duplicate post every month. I’ve since then made a few purchases that I’m excited to share with you.

Let’s begin!

Eos lipbalm

I had to order this online from a very cool company that I discovered through Instagram, Hashtag Awesome. You can get a variety of brands from them that aren’t available in South African stores such as Too Faced, Urban Decay and obviously, Eos. I’ve wanted an Eos lipbalm for the longest time, but due to the lack of availability in SA, couldn’t get one until now. I lose things all the time in my humungous handbag, but these babies don’t get lost so easily. They’re easy to apply as well.

Essence Blush Up! in Pinky Flow

I’ve mentioned this product a week or so ago and I love it. I love the ombre effect, not a fan of the name. I said why in a previous post that you can find here.

Essence Long Lasting eye pencil in C’est la vie

This silver eyeliner is great for an inner corner highlighter. It stays on all day and it’s easy to apply.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes in 011 Bluffing

I want one in every single colour. These are inexpensive and don’t crease at all.

Mr. Price bow

Lately I’ve been loving my hair bows. Mr. S bought me this one recently at Mr. Price for R19,99 and they’re definitely still in stock.

Essence Eye Sorbet in Illuminating Plum

I’m obsessed with these little bad boys. I have four of them and I recently used up my first pot and replaced it literally a day after.

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Black

I ran out of my usual Essence one so I had to get a new black liner. I got this one about a month ago at Edgars, but they’re also available at other stores that stock Revlon products. I love this eyeliner, because it doesn’t crack and stays put all day.

The Face Shop Mini Pet Perfume Hand Cream in Fruity Floral

I bought this in June already in Abu Dhabi, because again you don’t get a The Face Shop in South Africa. I couldn’t resist the adorable kitty packaging, but no jokes, I love the cream as well. It smells amazing and keeps my hands soft all day.

Orbit Professional White chewing gum

I keep a pack of these close since I drink quite a bit of coffee and water during the day at the office. This gum makes my mouth feel fresh again after lunch. My favourite flavor is spearmint.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Fruity and Cheeky Cherry

This is my third full size of Batiste that I’m using. I really love this dry shampoo. To be honest, I prefer the orginal and a blue bottle (the name of the fragrance escapes me), because it smells really fresh and clean, but I liked the cherry print on this bottle. The scent is okay. I personally prefer my dry shampoo in particular to rather smell fresh and clean, but for now I can live with smelling like fruity and cheeky cherry.

Yankee Candle Summer Scoop

Another spoil from Mr S. This candle smells like fruity ice cream and of course it’s pink so what’s not to love?

Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Easy Comb Spray for tight curls and dry hair

I picked this up at Dis-Chem for R21,99 because it was on special, but I didn’t read the label until I got home. I have wavy hair, not curly hair but my hair does tend to get quite dry in summer and in winter so I used it anyway and I’m really glad I did. It smells like peaches and it does keep knots out of my hair so happiness all round!

Pretty Little Liars

Again, I’m super late on this bandwagon, but I’ve watched the first season and started watching the second season and consider me thoroughly intrigued and in love with the sensitive Mr Fitz. Wawaweewa!

What have you been loving this past month?

P.S It’s almost Chrsitmas! Woot woot!

FOTD: Frozen

I’ve recently watched the movie, Frozen, and I loved the icy blue hues in the movie. It inspired me to do a nails of the day (NOTD) post yesterday and then a blue-ish make up look today.

Please excuse my hair, it was really irritating me so I braided it all and just stuck it up on my head with bobby pins.

Shopping The Stash

Don’t you just love discovering products or even clothes that you’ve forgotten you have? I don’t know about you, but it’s almost as exciting as going shopping, which is why when I saw my home page flooded (well, not entirely, maybe one or two posts), I knew that today is the day I’ll be going through my make up to see what I’ve forgotten about.

I was quite amazed at what I found. What I found was the most bizarre collection of items ever! From a silt mask to a perfume sample…

Maybelline Super Stay 24HR Make up in 030 Sand

I seriously love this foundation. It has SPF 19 in and has a micro-flex stretch formula that feels like you aren’t even wearing any foundation at all. I used to wear this when I went out or for special occasions, but I’m more of a BB cream kind of girl so unfortunately I’ve forgotten about my beloved base, but after finding it again, I’ll definitely be using it again.

SBR Skin Barrier Repair cream – 30g

This cream is great for winter since my skin gets dry the second the temperature drops even just slightly. It’s very thick though so using it sparingly is best. I’m going to apply some of this as of tomorrow.

Placecol Moisturising Silt Mask

This mask seriously refreshes, conditions and moisturises my skin. I used to put it on once a week as treat for my skin, but I’ve since switched to a different brand of facial wash etc and tossed my Placecol mask aside. Well no more! Time to use this bad boy again!

NYX The Ultimate Pearl Shadow in UP 07 Blonde Pearl

A gorgeous golden eye shadow with beautiful sparkles in. I can’t pull off colours that are too orange or yellow very well, but for this shade I’ll make an exception. If I remember correctly, I got this eye shadow as a free gift with a magazine one. Best free gift ever!

Rimmel eyeshadow in Audacious Amethyst

I bought this last year over Christmas time and I have to say, it is wonderful. I love the colour purple and I think this shade is great for any skin tone and any colour eye. Okay, that sounds weird, but you get what I’m saying!

L’Oreal Color Infailible in 014 Eternal Black

This is highly pigmented and sparkly and absolutely awesome for a night out. Unfortunately, when you apply this, half the sparkles and sprinkles of eyeshadow ends up on your cheeks and you look like a panda. Also, half way through the night, you end up looking like an even bigger panda, because this product literally shifts down to underneath your eyes and all the sparkles go in your eyes as well. Don’t even ask me how that’s possible, it just is. I’ve tried using an eyeshadow base with this, but it makes the black then look navy blue. I’ve read rave reviews about this so I guess it depends, but I only wore this when I was only heading out for a short period of time like say for a quick coffee date with a friend.

Random glitter mascara

Purchased from Dischem. You just take the wand and put a tiny bit of the product at the ends of your lashes otherwise you’ll glue your lashes together and get glitter in your eyes. Now, I love me some glitter, but getting in your eyes seriously sucks. Trust me.

Big Blue cupcake lipgloss in Wild Berry Tart

This smells as delicious as the packaging looks. I used to take this with me everywhere I went, because it’s dinky and handy for throwing in a handbag (and losing in a handbag as well). It looks very natural on your lips and gives just enough shimmer to make it noticeable.

Femme by Hugo Boss

This smells absolutely heavenly. I can’t even remember where I got this little sample of perfume but it was probably with a magazine. The little applicator is a stick type thingey, which doesn’t exactly make this easy to get on your skin. In fact, I always get most of it on my fingers and hands instead, but either way, this smells fantastic. I’ve wanted to get a proper sized bottle of this for ages now.

So there you have it, the most ridiculous Shop the Stash post you’ll ever read. If you’ve done one of these posts, let me know! I’d love to read it and see what other peeps have hidden in their make up bags.

April Favourites/Haul

Guess who went shopping?! Rhetorical question really, since it’s obviously me! This post will be kind of like part Haul and an April favourites post.

Steve Madden boots

The season is changing quickly here, and it’s becoming very cold, very fast, so I decided that it is definitely time for me to purchase a new pair of boots. Previously, I always used to wear pumps in the middle of winter, because in my corner of the world snow is an extreme rarity and I’m outdoorsy in the sense that in summer I like going onto the porch and drinking a cocktail. That’s it. Unfortunately, wearing pumps outside like the insensible person I am in the dead of winter meant getting a cold and flu more often so last winter I started wearing sneakers more and voila, less colds! This winter I’m upgrading to a gorgeous pair of boots that are not only warm, but also actually keeps the damn cold out!

Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo and Conditioner

I had my hair ombred last year February already and I’m holding thumbs that this hair trend is here to stay. It’s so low maintenance and you can still be blonde without having completely destroyed hair or looking washed out. Because you still have blonde or lighter ends, a good silver shampoo is definitely still a must to maintain this look. At first, the shampoo made my scalp itch, which did not impress me in the slightest, but when I started using it religiously in conjunction with the conditioner the itch stopped and my hair looks toned and is brass free.

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base

This was a graduation gift from mister S. I changed from my usual Garnier BB cream to a Revlon one and unlike the Garnier one, the Revlon one needs a primer to make it last all day and not do a funny crack looking thing on my skin. This primer is great, because it has a very subtle sparkly something in it that gives your skin a very youthful and dewy appearance. Me likey.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Laquer

Another graduation gift from mister S. I did a review on this fantastic product here. These are affordable, highly pigmented, last forever, and gives a very polished look. When I went back to Edgars for another one, they were all sold out, and this was within a week after first getting my gloss.

Essie nail polish in Fiji

A gift to myself really. I tend to wear the brightest and craziest colours on my nails anytime, all year long. I needed something a bit more subdued for work so I went for this colour. It’s great for Spring actually, and I think it’ll make a tan really stand out. A much cheaper dupe is Tip Top’s Melting Marshmallow, but Essie’s lasts much longer and gives a less streaky finish, although Tip Top’s isn’t bad at all.

Hey Gorgeous Marshmallow Whipped Mousse

I’ve done a review on this product. It’s amazing. Seriously, try it. They ship internationally as well.

Accessorize Panda earrings

I LOVE pandas and penguins! They get to wear tuxedos every day. How awesome is that?! These little sparkly bastards go with everything and I’ve been wearing them a lot. I even wore them to a wedding. Classy!

Lipstick leggings

An incredibly early birthday present from mister S. I saw these at Mr. Price and LOVED them. I mean, what’s not to love? They’re colourful and have lipsticks all over them! They were about R69,99 if I remember correctly, and as far as I know they should still be in stock. See how I wore mine here.

Family Feud

I know this show is on its 14th season already or something insane like that, but it only recently started airing in South Africa, and I’m hooked! I literally watch it every night, and if I don’t I watch the week’s omnibus of it. I’m a huge fan of the presenter/host, Steve. What a hilarious man!

Adidas deodorant spray in Fruity Rhythm

On Friday, I had to pack my bags for a weekend trip in 20 minutes, which is a true tragedy for any girl. My room still looks like a hurricane hit it, and it’ll probably have to stay that way for the next few days, but I digress. In my hurry to pack, I forgot to pack in a perfume and it really bothered me! I made a stop at Dischem and bought this spray. I’ve used it before, and I don’t know why I didn’t repurchase it! It smells so fresh and fruity and just plain delicious. It’s great having one of these in your bag instead of an expensive perfume.

They recently performed in SA at Ramfest, and unfortunately I couldn’t go to the show, but I’ve been listening to their music constantly. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea (or should I rather say pint of beer? Tea is much too dainty for a rock band!), but I’m loving them. My favourite song, which everyone’s probably heard by now, is My Number.

Atlas Genius

I’ve also been listening to them constantly, and I’m secretly wishing that they’ll come to one of my favourite music festivals, In The City, this year. My favourite song is If So. It’s great to bop to in your car. Tried and tested. 😉
