The summer is officially here! Although you wouldn’t say it with the freezing, rainy weather we’ve been having in Pretoria lately, but either way, here is my wishlist for the month:
I actually already have one of these. I ordered it online and it was delivered to my house last week. I have the strawberry one, but I would love the raspberry or coconut milk one.
Forever New crop top
As you’ve noticed by now, I absolutely adore Forever New. They’re hella expensive, but it’s worth investing in their dresses.
Yves Saint Laurent clutch
Okay, this like five years’ salary, but I really love the hot pink. If you know where I can find a much cheaper alternative or dupe, let a sister know!
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream perfume
Oh my gosh, what’s not to love about Marc Jacobs perfume? The man can do no wrong! I’m in love with this perfume, although considerably less in love with the price tag…
L’Oreal Miss Manga mascara
I love me some Maybelline mascara, but honestly, L’Oreal’s Miss Manga mascara might just give them a run for their money. This mascara is just perfect.
Baby pink Vans
I have a pair of Tomy mint sneakers, but pink will always have my little heart. Aren’t these just too cute? I have a irresistible urge to wear them to work for the rest of this year and next year.
What’s on your wishlist?
As usual, I’m the last one in the blogsphere to do an August favourites post so let’s just jump in and not wait a second longer!
Blah Blah Blah t-shirt
I love this t-shirt. It was R99 at Edgars and initially I was attracted to the colour. I’ve worn it to work (I work at a newspaper i.e creative environment), to parties, braais, around the house, to the movies, literally everywhere.
These little cut out pumps are insanely comfortable. I didn’t need to wear/walk them in or anything. They just fit perfectly and were just comfortable from the get-go. I also liked the colour.
Forever New handbag
Well, this isn’t really a clutch although it could double as one. I’m not actually really a yellow person, but for some reason I just loved this teensy bag when I saw it in Forever New. I walked out without buying it and when I opened up my laptop bag later that day, mister S had snuck back and secretly bought it for me. Such a sweetie.
Again something I saw and loved, but honestly it was just too expensive. Initially it was something like R600, but a month later it was on a 75% off sale. Needless to say, I snatched it up.
Lovisa earrings (purple flower earrings)
My mom got me these and I love them. They don’t hurt my ears and they make a statement without being completely over the top.
Forever New earrings
I’m a bridesmaid at a good friend’s wedding in October and I bought these in a little set of three with the intention of wearing one pair to the wedding. I tried on these silver ones and loved how they looked and I’ve been wearing it non-stop to work and everywhere (with my Blah shirt). They go with everything.
MAC lipstick in All Fired Up
A true impulse buy, but one I don’t regret at all. I was with my best friend and we always admire the MAC lipsticks when we go shopping and when I saw this one, I grabbed it. The next day, my friend went back for one as well and they were sold out. It’s one of those incredible colours that will go with any skin tone.
Yankee Candle in Garden Sweet Pea
Apart from this candle being a beautiful colour, the smell is just great. It smells really fresh and flowery, but it’s not overpowering.
Aren’t these the cutest oven mitts you’ve ever seen?!
Summertime creepy crawlies
I don’t know if other countries get this as well, but during the summer here in Southern Africa if you dare leave a light on disgusting moths come hurtling in through the window and I hate bugs. Especially those horrible moths and they’re relentless. I’ve tried sitting with my windows and bedroom door closed to keep them out and to have some peace, but they will literally somehow get in under your door to head towards your light. Apart from it being super irritating having them aimlessly and stupidly knocking back and forth into the lightbulb, it just gives me the creeps.
I only recently got a new cellphone and I have to say never in my life have I ever experienced such trouble and constant irritation with a phone as I have with my old Blackberry. The thing already started giving me trouble after just a few months and it just never stopped until the day I stopped using it, and I had the phone for two years. All I have to say is, Blackberry should be ashamed of themselves for putting such utter shit on the market. Have you no pride?! You suck!
Even though this post is suuuuper late, I hope you enjoyed it!
Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?
I’ve been so busy with work, even now on my off day I’m busy uploading pictures of people’s lost dogs. Don’t ask…
Spring is in the air here in Southern Africa and I couldn’t be happier! Just now I looked out the window and saw flowers have already started blooming in our garden. The grass still needs to green up a bit, but who’s going to complain about fresh spring flowers?
With spring and summer just around the corner, it’s definitely time for me to get my tootsies sandal/pump/flip flop ready.
Since I can’t decide what colour to make my toenails for the first time since the winter started, you’ve got to help me.
Which colour do you think I should make my nails? After all, the first colour you make your nails for the new season sets the tone (and my mood) for the week. So take a minute to help me decide.
Have you ever sat in the dead of winter with a warm cup of cocoa watching some lonely snowflakes drifting to the ground through the window, and thought to yourself “I wish summer would just come already?!”
Even though snow is an uncommon occurrence in Southern Africa where I stay (which then makes watching snow flakes kind of redundant), I’ve often wished that summer would come sooner after angrily coming in from outside, feeling like I’ve gotten frost bite from just being outside in the cold, dry air for five minutes.
When I think of summer, I think of golden tans, cute dresses, bright pops of colour, wavy beach curls, tall drinks and hours of fun in the sun. Doesn’t that just make winter sound boring already?
So to cheer myself up about winter since it’s only really started getting super cold here now, I decided to do a post about summer and a summer outfit, but before I even get into that, let me share a little secret with you that you have to keep in mind if you live in the US.
I’m the first person to tell you that I’m straight up addicted to the Internet. I can spend hours surfing the net and finding all kinds of awesome new sites, and one of those sites that I’ve come across is Raise.com, and also when they contacted me to participate in their Closet Swap campaign, I was all ears!
Raise.com is a platform where you can buy or sell gift cards. Signing up takes less than five minutes, and it’s free. Delivery and shipping is also free, but unfortunately for now, their services are only available in the US. The gift cards range between various price ranges, and the brands listed that accept these gift cards are literally endless.
Personally, I love gift cards and I love giving them as gifts especially for people who already have everything or someone you don’t know that well, but I digress. Since discovering Raise.com, I’ve decided to base my summer look here on some of the brands I saw listed on their website. Let’s jump straight in! I’ve put all my photos in a gallery to make it easier to go through. Enjoy!
Firstly, no summer look is complete if you don’t exfoliate and then moisturise with a shimmery body lotion. I adore The Body Shop’s exfoliators, especially their raspberry scented range. Yum! Victoria’s Secret has amazing shimmery body lotions, and I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t buy one when I was in Dubai. Don’t repeat my mistake! I didn’t take any pictures of the lotion, because the camera didn’t pick up on the sparkles so no need to just post a picture of my arm…
Secondly, you have to have a coat of bright nail polish on your nails. My favourite nail polish is OPI, and you can purchase any colour imaginable from Sephora. I’m wearing OPI’s Strawberry Margarita, and the glittery polish is Barry M’s Rose Quartz Glitter.
I love larger watches, and my watch is Guess. I got it as a birthday present this year and I wear it every single day. My handbag is also from Guess and also happened to be a birthday present from last year.
My skater dress is from Mr. Price, which is a South African store. However, I do declare that Forever 21 has absolutely stunning summer dresses at affordable prices. I love wearing dresses in summer. The baby blue pumps are also from Mr. Price, but I’m sure you will also be able to find similar one from Forever 21 or Aldo if your budget allows it. The cardigan is from a SA shop called Vertigo.
I adore statement necklaces and the bright floral one is definitely one of my favourites. I also got it from Mr. Price (it’s affordable okay?!), and again I know that you get lovely statement jewelry from Forever 21.
My make up is quite simple. I used Maybelline 24Hr Colour Tattoo in On and on Bronze as eyeliner, and my neon lipstick is MAC Cosmetics‘s Candy Yum Yum. Please excuse my woolly sweater and scarf, it is winter after all this side of the world. 🙂 My favourite summer perfume is DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom.
All the brands I’ve mentioned here are available on Raise.com. You can thank me later. 😉

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I’m going to a wedding this weekend.
So once again, I took to Polyvore and went about creating some wedding attire that is appropriate for a summer wedding. It’s autumn here, but it’s not so cold yet that you need to wear warm clothes all day so I created an autumn look as well, but enough rambling from my side. Enjoy!

The second outfit can be dressed down by wearing flats and switching the blazer for a leather jacket or a simple cardigan.
Which would you wear?
